Carmelo Anthony Trade Reportedly Includes Corey Brewer Heading To Knicks From Timberwolves

The Carmelo Anthony trade keeps spawning more parts as details slowly trickle out and Corey Brewer is reportedly the latest piece to be thrown into the pile. The Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks and Minnesota Timberwolves put together a three-team package sending almost a full roster of players in motion, all centered around Anthony.

ESPN's Chris Broussard reported the addition of Brewer to the trade following the whirlwind of reports on the Anthony trade on Monday night.

Madison Square Garden just got another former Gator.

After trading power forward David Lee to Golden State last year, New York acquired Corey Brewer in a three-team trade with Denver and Minnesota Monday.

The swingman started in 22 of 56 games this season, averaging 8.6 points and 2.7 rebounds a game. Selected seventh overall by the Timberwolves in the 2007 NBA Draft, Brewer could never make his mark in Minnesota.

According to Jerry Zgoda of the Minnesota Star-Tribune, “the Wolves concluded he’ll never shoot or handle the ball well enough to warrant a prominent wing spot on a contending team. They also apparently felt he wasn’t the defender — gambles too much, not great off the ball — many Wolves fan thought he was. And he’s set to become a restricted free agent.”

Originally thought to be headed to Denver, there’s a chance the Knicks could shop Brewer if they find a deal before Thursday’s NBA trade deadline. Howard Beck of The New York Times said “there’s a good market for him.”
